My Journey
About Me
Most people don’t have too much trouble talking one-on-one, but speaking to a group can be more challenging. When I joined Toastmasters several years ago, it was just so my home-schooled teenaged son could practice giving a few speeches. He wasn’t old enough to join, but the friendly (and very clever!) club president told me my son could participate as long as I joined. As a former engineer, I had been more interested in my ability to calculate than my ability to communicate, but I agreed to join.
I still remember my first speech. I looked confident, but my knees were shaking behind the lectern. I blanked out for part of my speech. The best part of my speech was when I could finally sit down!
Over time, with practice, feedback, seminars, books and more, my skills and confidence grew. In 2009 I started speaking professionally.
Since then, I have presented to large and small groups, written 10+ books on communication skills (Amazon Author Page) and coached people from ages 11 to 78 across the globe on how to communicate with clarity and confidence–whether in presentations, in client conversations or in job interviews.
Enough about me. What about you? Do you want to communicate with good results? Do you want to look and feel confident when you speak? Do you want to engage your audience? Do you want to persuade others to accept your ideas, your products, your services? Do you want to be polished, yet authentic?
I hope you answered “yes” to all of the above. You don’t have to be a professional speaker to be engaging and get your point across, you just need to be intentional in developing your content and mindful of your delivery.
I want to help you do just that. How I help you depends on what you want and need. I can coach you in-person if you live near Houston, TX, or I can coach you via Zoom. Sign up for my bi-monthly “Talking Points” Newsletter (I promise short and useful tips).
